BP Newcastle - Tank Foundations NE9 & NE21
Construction of two concrete ringbeams to provide foundations for fuel storage tanks. The FRP works included the backfilling of the structure from material sourced and sorted on site and placement of a HDPE membrane layer over the backfill with an oily sand layer on top.
The scope of work includes:
- Excavation to top of loadbearing piles.
- Dewatering and placing of blinding.
- Form, place reinforced bar and pour concrete.
- Backfilling of structure with conforming material and compaction.
- Installation and testing of HDPE membrane.
- Welding of cast-in E-lock system and HDPE membrane.
- Placement of oiled sand over the membrane, spreading and compaction.
