Airport flanks undergo makeover

At 3am this morning the project team installed the pre-cast blast matting along the edge of the runway at Sydney Airport. Ward were contracted to remove the existing eroded flanks, which were damaged by aircraft jet blast, and replace with the pre-cast matting to ensure long term measures against blast erosion. The construction works can only take place during curfew hours of 11pm and 6am each night to avoid interruptions to normal aircraft traffic.
