One of the first!

We are pleased to advise that Ward is one of the first Australian contractors to have its WHS Management System certified to the new international safety standard ISO 45001 2018.

Congratulations to HSEQ Manager Uday Gorrepati and his team who have worked hard to improve our WHS System so as to accommodate the changes in the new standard that include improved consultation arrangements and better planning of high risk activities.

“Effective management of WHS requires continual improvement and meaningful consultation with all stakeholders” said Uday on receipt of the new certification from SAI Global.

Ward is committed to a safety culture that avoids harm and ensures that everyone returns home safe every day.

A Good Cause

Last week we asked everyone to dig deep and make a gracious donation to Buy a Bale. The Buy a Bale campaign, which is part of Rural Aid, is helping raise much needed funds for Australian framers in NSW, and Australia wide, during the drought. They are providing hay, water, fuel, groceries, and many other essentials that these farmers will suffer without.

Ward is pleased to announce after a few short days of fund-raising we will be making a donation of $6,370 comprised of donations from our employees that the company matched!

It’s not going to end the drought, but we’re hoping it helps get these farmers back on their feet!

If you’re interesting in making a donation, please visit the link below.

Site Inspection at Barangaroo

The Ward Barangaroo project team today played host to a site inspection by a team of gun construction lawyers from leading construction law firm Pinsent Masons. It was a case of exchanging corporate attire for full body suits and face masks, so as to inspect the bulk excavation works in the basement of the new development. Senior Project Manager Dave Condon was at hand to explain the top-down methodology that allows basement excavation to proceed in tandem with the construction of the new structure above. An informative site inspection for sure. Thanks to Dave and the site team for accommodating the visitors.

The driest start to a year in five decades and a dimming outlook for better-than-average rainfall in coming months has prompted the NSW Government to declare ALL of NSW to be in drought. NSW farmers are facing severe financial distress from failing crops, severe water shortages and being unable to feed livestock. Farmers are now faced with the prospect of having to graze already sown crops.

The “Buy a Bale” fundraising campaign is part of the charity Rural Aid, designed to expand services and provide support to rural communities that are suffering from the drought. Meaningful support is being provided for farmers who have no feed left for their cattle by the delivery of hay and other essential items.

Ward has decided to match all donations made our staff members, and we would like to encourage you all to visit their website by clicking on the photo below and make a donation, if you’re in a position to do so.

Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 Enabling Works

We are excited to announce that the Diona Ward Joint Venture (“DWJV” comprising Diona Pty Ltd and Ward Civil & Environmental Engineering Pty Limited) will deliver the Enabling Works stage of the Parramatta Light Rail development.

Parramatta Light Rail program director Tim Poole said, “These enabling works are vital to keep the city moving and to minimise disruption for the people of Parramatta. These changes, while not directly along the Parramatta Light Rail route, will provide additional capacity and connections for everyone in the CBD before, during and after the light rail construction.”

Diona will undertake the relocation of extensive underground utilities while Ward completes the above-ground intersection upgrades, installation of traffic lights and changes to street lanes and parking.

“We look forward to working closely with Transport for NSW and Diona to enhance the traffic flow in and around the Parramatta business district” says Chief Executive Officer, Julia Ward.
