Utility Locator/Surveyor

Ward Utilities are a new division of the Ward Group who specialise in the investigation and mapping of subsurface utilities. Through the successful delivery of complex civil projects, we have deep understanding the integral role quality data plays for the successful design and delivery of projects.

Who we are looking for:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Utility Locator/Surveyor to join our Wards Utilities team based in our Lane Cove office.

 Requirements:

  • DBYD Certified Locator
  • White card
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Full drivers licence
  • Certificate or related qualification in Surveying

Key Responsibilities:

  • Locating subsurface utilities to AS5488.1.2019
  • Requesting and understanding DBYD drawings
  • Operating various locating equipment including GPR, EM-wands and sonde
  • Complete daily work orders, safety documents and permits as required in accordance with company procedure
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to ensure program and objectives are met
  • Be able to work independently

Civil Engineering Technician

We are seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineering Technician to join our team. You will need a Diploma or higher qualification in Civil Engineering or related qualification and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating material costs and ensuring finished works are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions
  • Ensuring engineering construction activities are set in line with drawings and specifications
  • Collecting and analyzing data in order to carry out computations for preparing sketches
  • Preparing tabulations, plans, and designs for civil engineering
  • Conduct testing of construction materials and soils
  • Perform and direct site work
  • Complete daily work orders, safety documents and permits as required in accordance with company procedures
  • Inspecting civil engineering works, and organizing and supervising maintenance and repair work
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, client representatives and other stakeholders
  • Providing extensive reporting
  • Attendance at client meetings
  • Report incidents and breaches and ensure compliance with all company safety requirements

Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer

Ward is a leading civil engineering and remediation contractor in the Sydney market with a range of top tier clients including Transport for NSW, Sydney Airport Corporation, Northern Beaches Council, City of Sydney, Western Sydney Parklands and Lendlease Building.

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Transport sector and will be responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts.  The role is full time.

Engineers that have extensive Earthworks experience in conjunction with Transport experience would be highly regarded. A proven track history at a Tier 2 level is preferred, but not essential. Experience with utilities would be advantageous. There is the potential for the incumbent to fast track their career if they prove themselves capable of doing so.

Responsibilities will be varied and will encompass the areas of Organisation and Planning, Formal Communication, Safety in the Workplace, Environmental Controls, Quality, Human Resources and Financial. You will

  • Assist with on-site management to ensure project success
  • Ensure project plan is moving forward to meet anticipated deadlines
  • Responsible for RFI and submittal process
  • Processes owner billings and project related accounting issues
  • Develop construction methodologies and method statements
  • Demonstrate management and co-ordination of multiple subcontractors, sometimes engaged directly by the Client
  • Develop commercial skills by managing subcontractors and reviewing and assessing claims
  • Develop site specific Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)

Qualifications

  • 4+ years engineering experience, with at least 2 of them at a project engineer level
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
  • Experience with Earthwork or in the Transport space is a huge advantage
