Overview: Ward was contracted to construct a bund wall and confinement layer to prevent any environmental damage in the unlikely case of a fuel spillage.  This was constructed in a fully operational fuel terminal.

Scope of works:

  • Construct approximately 1,100m of bund wall, on average 2.4m high with an inground footing
  • Supply and placement of c.18,000m2 of membrane barrier and 250mm thick stabilised confinement layer
  • Other associated concrete works such as internal subdivision bunds, tanks aprons and oily water treatment pit
  • All associated drainage and pits
  • Earthworks, including excavation reuse and removal of material
  • Maintaining temporary bunds at all times during construction
  • All associated demolition including removal of existing walls, structures and subdivision bunds
  • Installation of 400m of external roads and access ramps
