Overview: the upgrade of Horse Park Drive and Gundaroo Drive intersection included construction of a two lane dual carriageway with turning lanes, and the connection of Gundaroo Drive to David Walsh Avenue. The construction program was challenging due to the need to maintain live traffic at all times during the works and also the co-ordination of authorities and the relocation of various services.
Scope of works:
- Earthworks (import of over 10,000m3 of fill material
- Service installation, including water, gas and electrical communication services
- Stormwater, including a 20m 360mm x 60mm box culvert and up to 140m of reinforced concrete pipes
- Street light installation
- Flexible pavement over 11,000m2 in area with a DGB sub base and subsoil drainage
- Construction of central median islands (1,700m2)
- Stone pitched walls and gabion mattresses
- Placement of topsoil up to 8,500m2 in area with seeding and placing of bitumen and straw mulch and planting of various species of native trees
