Overview//
< BACKHMAS Watson, located at Sydney’s South Head, is a key operational and maritime warfare training establishment for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). It is the home of the Training Authority Maritime Warfare (TA-MW). The HMAS Watson Redevelopment project consists of several work elements which include infrastructure upgrades, new buildings and the refurbishment of existing facilities. These works will be delivered in a phased approach over a seven-year period. Ward is undertaking Work Element 09 – Base Entry. The Base Entry works have been broken into key stages to maintain access requirements and safe operation of the base security whilst minimising disruptions throughout the period of works. There have been four stages developed in consultation with base stakeholders and design/construction teams.
Scope of Works//
- Stage 1 works include OSD tank works, retaining walls, stormwater diversion, FRP of new pass office structure, SPEL tank and stormwater pipes, construction of temporary carparks and pedestrian walkways
- Stage 2 works include demolition of existing guard house, stormwater diversion, FRP of the new guard house structure, retaining walls and in-ground services
- Stage 3 works include civil works (roadworks including kerbs, gutters and retaining walls) and in-ground services
- Stage 4 works include civil works (roadworks including kerbs, gutters, roundabout and pedestrian crossings), flagpole/projectiles relocation and in-ground services
