UTS Women in STEM Site Visit PLR

Six female first-year civil engineering students from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) visited the Parramatta Light Rail enabling works project site recently as part of Ward’s program for improving female participation in civil engineering.

Site Engineer Brady Noack provided an overview of the project and an insight into his experience as a member of Ward’s industry-leading undergraduate program. The program, now in its third year, includes Cert IV training in Work Health and Safety and a rotation through the various company disciplines including estimating, project work, environment and survey under the guidance of a senior management mentor. 

It was great to meet such enthusiastic young female civil students and to see how they kept Brady and the team on their toes with some interesting questions. Well done to Lydia Dowling at University of Technology Sydney WiEIT CoOP Scholarship for taking the lead in promoting gender diversity in civil engineering.
