NAIDOC Week Celebrations.
This week Ward recognises NAIDOC week and celebrates the contribution of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to our great industry. NAIDOC week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As a proud partner of the Sydney Roosters community team the Ward BBQ team, in its biggest undertaking to date, provided the breakfast and lunch for the 500+ attendees of the 2019 Artie Beetson Family Fun Day at the Glen Centre, Chittaway Bay on the NSW Central Coast.
The family fun day included an NRL clinic by Sydney Roosters including Matt Ikuvalu and NRLW captain Simaima Taufa, a smoking ceremony with some inspirational dancing by the Glen boys, jumping castles for the kids and information stalls for 26 local community groups.
The Glen is a Central Coast based service run by the Ngaimpe Aboriginal Corporation that provides Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation opportunities for men (Indigenous and non-Indigenous from all over NSW) and is a proud example of the triumph of the Koori and the human spirit.
