Statement in response to The Australian article ‘Probe into rail official’s relationship’

Ward Civil & Environmental Engineering has been serving the community with important infrastructure projects for more than 40 years.  We are proud of our culture, our commitment to safety and the service that we provide to our clients.

We are a values-driven business underpinned by our commitment to the health and safety of our people, and in conducting ourselves with integrity in everything we do.  Our policies reflect the highest and most ethical standards in all areas of our business.

Ward Civil has an audit system verified by SAI Global and we have annual detailed investigations to ensure we remain compliant with all relevant certifications.

For all these reasons and more, we have a strong history of winning contracts for a variety of government agencies and local councils.

Notwithstanding our impeccable track record of service and compliance, an anonymous complaint was received by the Secretary of Transport for NSW in December 2018 which implied that a contract related to the Parramatta Light Rail project was awarded to Ward Civil on an improper basis.

As per its obligations, Transport for NSW notified the Independent Commission Against Corruption.  Importantly, an independent investigation found no evidence that the tender process had been improperly influenced in any way.

Ward Civil has always, and will continue to, uphold its legal and ethical obligations to its clients and the community.
