Vale Breda Drumgoole

It is with great sadness WARD shares news of the passing of Breda Drumgoole. After a courageous 4-year battle with cancer, Breda passed away on Sunday 5 May 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Breda was one of Ward’s longest serving employees, starting with the business back in 1986. She was employed by WARD’s founder the late Peter Ward, as the Accounts Payable clerk for the company. She was the heart of this department.

Over her 38 years with WARD, we remember Breda for many things. Professionally you would never meet someone more hard-working or efficient. Breda would diligently work through invoices and always dealt with suppliers and sub-contractors respectfully, even when they could be challenging. She had an incredible wit and a dry sense of humour, a caring and kind nature, boundless love of her family and friends and a selfless devotion to her charity work.

Breda devoted a lot of her time to two charities in particular – the Wayside Chapel in Kings Cross and the Vinnies night bus, serving hot meals to Sydney’s homeless community. Breda formed friendships and relationships with the people in the community she helped on a weekly basis and on the odd occasion, would skip a WARD event because the night conflicted with one of her charity shifts.

Breda was more than a friend, colleague and hard worker. She was also a devoted wife to Drummer and a loving mother to Eimear. Breda lived life to the full – she was always the life of the party. Breda was also a fighter right until the very end.

As sad as we are for the passing of Breda, WARD celebrates her life and the memories she created for us all.
