Vale Tony “Occy” Tsougranis

It is with great sadness we mark the passing of Tony “Occy” Tsougranis. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Occy was able to see one last Christmas and new year with his beloved family. He passed away on Monday 2 January 2023.

Occy was Ward’s longest serving employee, having started with the business back in 1974. Occy and his wife, Irene, immigrated to Australia in 1970 from the beautiful island of Kalymnos in Greece.

Everyone at Ward knew Occy as an incredibly hard worker and a role model for the next generation. He would arrive on site on a Saturday (even if the site wasn’t open) and would ask what could be done. He was an early starter, a late finisher and the best in the business on the jack-hammer.

Occy was more than a hard-working man. He was a devoted family man. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loving wife Irene, son Nicholas and his wife Eleni, daughter Maria and her husband Dimitri, as well as his four grandchildren – Andonis, Kostas, Andoni and Alex.
