Wardies take out the Engineering Category at the Sydney Corporate Triathlon!

Last Sunday, Ward’s elite athletes (or just those silly enough to wake up at 4.30am on a Sunday), competed in the Australian Corporate Triathlon Series in Sydney.

The race consisted of a 350m swim, 10km cycle, and a 4.5km run.

The teams were made up of the following:

Team 1: Mark Colton, Joe Peach & Ben Steele

Team 2: Dave Condon, Aleksei Rybakov, & Rory Kelly

Team 3: Julia Ward and Don Edwards

Team 4: Adrian Wong, Ben Maher, & Nathan Bucki

The competitors in Teams 1 & 2 all completed the full triathlon, while Teams 3 & 4 completed it as a relay style race.

To no surprise, Joe Peach (the guy who made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for completing the Blackmores Sydney marathon dressed as The Queen) came in first place out of the Ward group (38th overall), but not far behind was his teammate Mark Colton.  Sorry, Ben. I’m sure you’ll never hear the end of that third-place finish out at Warriewood.  Furthermore, this team managed to take out first position in the Engineering category … a title which they will no doubt fiercely defend in 2018.

The winner of Team 2 was Aleksei, no doubt though.  The guy trained like he was competing in the Hunger Games. Well done, mate!

Honorable mention goes to our CEO, Julia Ward, for being the only woman to compete and still finishing with the quickest time for the 350m swim!

Overall it was a beautiful and competitive day out at Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith.  Job well done to all those who gave it their best shot, and we will see you soon at the City2Surf!
